i know everyone has been somewhere that brings back great memories.  If you are one of these people let us know where that was.

We are preparing for the upcoming 2015 planning meeting, and we need your help.  If you have been somewhere you think the club might like, let us know and we can discuss it at the planning meeting next month. Since I am new to flying my adventures are in the infant stage, so help me out with your ideas.  Let's make this a year to remember.

AOPA's last regional fly-in for 2015 will be at Tullahoma, TN October 10.  Given the grassroots aviation fun opportunities at THA, including the Staggerwing Museum, the Jack Daniels Distillery, etc. and our interest in growing CAC in Western NC and TN, this may be a natural to coordinate and do as one of our '15 fly-ins.  Please show this as a suggestion for the CRE Planning Meeting on Feb. 28.  I am happy to be shown as a co-sponsor for this one and invite any other Club member to join me as such, for the event that the Planning Meeting decides we should do THA that Saturday in October.

That sounds great Chris, we will put that as a suggestion during the meeting.  October would be a great time of the year for that.  Thanks for the suggestion.  See you at CRE

Looking for a place to fly with your spouse, kids, parents or friends for a nice lunch?

Try the Runway Cafe at Greenville Municipal (KGMU). It is a Class D (controlled) field easy to access, the restaurant is right off the taxiway, just park and go through the gate to enjoy their salads, onion rings, burgers and more.

Don't forget to ask for your 20% discount for flying in.

    Sugar Valley Airport (Mocksville, NC):

The joint fly-in with Piedmont Aero Club (formerly known as the Honda Jet club) was a great success. If you liked the place and would like to come back to spend a night camping there to enjoy this beautiful place, please see below guidelines to make it an easy and safe trip.

    From Susan Park (SVA):

Please let us know when you would like to come and visit so we can make sure there are no events that might interfere.  That’s not likely and it’s always good to check first.  24 hours notice would be helpful so we can turn the hot water on in the Bath House.

When you come, we ask that folks stop by the office (open 8:30 – 5:00 daily except Sundays when the office opens about 10).  Whoever is in the office can go over the protocols & orientation on that first visit.  Otherwise, it’s good to know when folks are here.  The paddle boat, canoes and otters are available for paddling on the lake.  There are some life jackets here also.   We leave fishing to the beautiful birds who live nearby or at the lake itself. J   The fire circle is available for fires.

SVA is a non-profit so all donations are tax deductible and are used to help keep the airport beautiful; ready for others to enjoy and be part of the community.
