The AOPA Fly-In Fabulous

The AOPA Fly-In Saturday November 8 at the St. Simon’s airport attracted 534 aircraft, of which 8 were Aero Club airplanes, including Susan Van Fleet’s pristine 1976 C-172XP on Wipaire 2350 amphib floats. “Samantha” attracted hundreds of onlookers, many of whom stopped throughout the day to yak about the Club, as we set the CAC info table, banner and chairs under her starboard wing. At least 5 new members signed up as a result of our display and presence at KSSI. We hope Susan got a new float rating student or two in the process, and the Club appreciates very much her contribution in bringing “Sam”.

CAC Banquet and Fly-In Attendees included: A&L Abbatiello, A&H Bagwell, D&L Bradway, R&B Cox, H&C Deck, S Dusenbury, S&D Horrell, P&C Hudson, T&N Karr, C Masiero, L Moore, M&D Stell, N&D Stell, E Weiler & J Shearer, S Van Fleet & L Huggins and B Wofford.

Rusty Pilot Seminars Friday were a big hit for AOPA and seem a natural way to improve pilot attrition, and there were multiple seminars throughout the day Saturday at the airport, along with a good breakfast and a free lunch provided by the association.
